Pre-Arrival Readiness Checklist

Cambridge College provides incoming international students with a structured pre-arrival readiness checklist to help them prepare for their studies and comply with Canadian immigration and provincial requirements. The checklist includes, but is not limited to:

  • Application for a valid study permit: Through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
  • Enrollment in British Columbia’s Medical Services Plan (MSP): Or confirmation of private health insurance coverage during the initial waiting period.
  • Review program start dates, tuition payment requirements, and required documentation before classes begin.

The Admissions and Student Services team is available to answer questions and provide guidance throughout the pre-arrival process.

Pre-Arrival Information Sessions

Cambridge College organizes online pre-arrival information sessions to help students prepare for their academic journey and life in Canada. These sessions provide essential information about academic expectations, institutional policies, student services, and daily life in British Columbia. Students also have the opportunity to ask questions and receive guidance from College representatives, helping them feel confident and prepared before arrival.

Post-Arrival Orientation

Online Student Orientation
Before classes begin, students receive an online orientation that introduces them to the college's learning environment and key academic resources. Orientation includes information on:

  • Accessing the student portal and online learning platform
  • Technology and system requirements
  • Academic policies and student expectations
  • Course schedules and attendance requirements
  • Student support contacts and administrative services

Community Resources and Settlement Information

As part of the orientation process, students receive information about essential community and settlement resources, including guidance on:

  • Public transportation systems
  • Local healthcare services and clinics
  • Libraries, grocery stores, and other essential services

These informational sessions help students learn how to access local services and navigate their new environment safely and independently.

Canadian Culture, Rights, and Responsibilities

Orientation programming also introduces students to Canadian culture, laws, and social expectations. Topics include:

  • Tenant rights and housing responsibilities
  • Workplace standards and professional conduct
  • Public behavior, safety expectations, and applicable laws
  • General awareness of provincial and federal regulations, including driving laws

These sessions help students integrate into the community, understand their rights and responsibilities, and adjust smoothly to academic and everyday life in British Columbia.
