Financial Assistance

Cambridge College recognizes that financing post-secondary education is an important consideration for students. Students are encouraged to plan for the full cost of their education before beginning their program and to explore the financial assistance options for which they may be eligible. The College can provide students with general information about tuition, program-related costs, payment requirements, and available financial assistance resources. Students remain responsible for determining their eligibility for financial assistance, completing applications accurately and on time, and meeting the requirements of the applicable funding provider.

Financial Planning

Before beginning a program, students should consider the total cost of their education and their ability to meet their financial obligations throughout the study period.

Students should consider expenses such as:

  • Tuition and mandatory program fees;
  • Textbooks and learning materials;
  • Technology or equipment requirements, where applicable;
  • Transportation and living expenses;
  • Childcare and other personal expenses, where applicable; and
  • Any other costs associated with completing their program.

Students who have questions about their tuition or payment obligations are encouraged to contact Cambridge College administration.

Government Student Financial Assistance

Students enrolled in eligible programs may be able to apply for government student financial assistance, subject to the eligibility requirements established by the applicable government authority. Government financial assistance may include student loans, grants, or a combination of available funding.

Eligibility is determined by the applicable government student financial assistance program and not by Cambridge College. Eligibility may depend on factors including the student’s program of study, course load, financial circumstances, residency status, satisfactory academic progress, and other government requirements.

Students are responsible for:

  • Reviewing the applicable eligibility requirements;
  • Submitting their application and supporting documentation;
  • Providing complete and accurate information;
  • Meeting application and documentation deadlines;
  • Maintaining any required academic or enrolment status;
  • Promptly reporting changes that may affect their funding; and
  • Complying with the terms and conditions of their financial assistance.

Students should refer to the applicable government student financial assistance authority for current eligibility requirements, funding amounts, application procedures, and repayment obligations.

StudentAid BC

Eligible British Columbia residents attending an eligible program may apply for financial assistance through StudentAid BC. StudentAid BC administers provincial and federal student financial assistance for eligible students in British Columbia. Depending on individual eligibility, assistance may include loans, grants, or other forms of government student financial assistance.

Receiving admission to Cambridge College does not automatically establish eligibility for StudentAid BC funding. Students must satisfy all StudentAid BC requirements applicable to their individual circumstances and program. Students receiving StudentAid BC funding are responsible for understanding and complying with the conditions attached to their financial assistance.

Maintaining Eligibility for Student Financial Assistance

Students receiving government-funded financial assistance must remain aware that changes to their student status may affect their funding. Students should promptly notify the College and/or the applicable funding authority, as required, if there is a significant change in their circumstances, including:

  • Withdrawal from a program;
  • Dismissal from a program;
  • Interruption of studies;
  • Change in enrolment status;
  • Change in course load, where applicable;
  • Failure to meet applicable academic requirements; or
  • Another change that may affect financial assistance eligibility.

The College will complete required enrolment confirmations and other institutional reporting in accordance with applicable requirements. Students should not assume that financial assistance will continue following a change in enrolment or academic status.

Payment Arrangements

Where payment arrangements are available, students may contact Cambridge College administration to discuss applicable tuition payment requirements and deadlines. Any payment arrangement must be approved by the College and documented in accordance with College procedures. A payment arrangement does not reduce the student’s total tuition or other financial obligations unless the College has expressly confirmed otherwise in writing. Students are responsible for making all payments by the agreed deadlines.

External Financing

Students may independently explore financing through banks, credit unions, family support, sponsorship, employer assistance, or other legitimate sources. Some Canadian financial institutions offer education or student lines of credit. Eligibility, interest rates, repayment terms, guarantor requirements, credit requirements, and other conditions are established solely by the financial institution. Cambridge College does not determine eligibility for privately provided loans or lines of credit and does not guarantee approval. Students considering private borrowing are encouraged to carefully review the applicable interest rates, fees, repayment obligations, and terms before entering into a financial agreement.

Sponsorship and Third-Party Funding

Some students may receive financial support from an employer, government agency, community organization, sponsoring organization, or another third party. Students receiving third-party funding are responsible for ensuring that all required authorization or sponsorship documentation is provided to Cambridge College within the required timeframe. Unless otherwise agreed to in writing by Cambridge College, the student remains responsible for any tuition or fees not paid by the sponsoring organization.

Financial Assistance Is Not Guaranteed

Admission or enrolment at Cambridge College does not guarantee:

  • Eligibility for government student assistance;
  • Approval of a student loan or grant;
  • Approval of private financing;
  • Approval of sponsorship;
  • A particular amount of financial assistance; or
  • Continued financial assistance throughout the student’s program.

Financial assistance decisions are made by the applicable government agency, lender, sponsor, or funding organization according to its own eligibility requirements. Students should therefore ensure that they have an appropriate financial plan before commencing their studies.

Changes in Financial Circumstances

Students experiencing financial difficulties during their studies are encouraged to contact Cambridge College administration as early as possible. While the College cannot guarantee additional funding or financial assistance, early communication may allow the College to explain available options, applicable payment requirements, or external resources that the student may wish to explore. Financial difficulties do not automatically exempt a student from tuition obligations, academic requirements, attendance requirements, or other College policies.

Tuition Refunds

Financial assistance and tuition refunds are separate matters. Any refund of tuition or other fees will be determined in accordance with the Cambridge College Tuition Refund Policy, the student’s enrolment contract, and applicable regulatory requirements. Students receiving government student financial assistance should be aware that a withdrawal, dismissal, refund, or change in enrolment may affect their funding and may result in adjustments or repayment obligations determined by the applicable funding authority.

Student Responsibilities

Students are responsible for:

  • Understanding the tuition and fees associated with their program;
  • Reviewing their enrolment contract before signing;
  • Developing a reasonable plan for financing their education;
  • Applying for financial assistance within applicable deadlines;
  • Providing truthful and complete information on funding applications;
  • Maintaining eligibility requirements established by funding providers;
  • Notifying relevant parties of changes that may affect funding;
  • Monitoring their student loan or funding status;
  • Making required tuition payments by the applicable deadlines; and
  • Contacting Cambridge College promptly if they have questions regarding their financial account.

Cambridge College will:

  • Provide students with clear information regarding applicable tuition and fees;
  • Provide required institutional information for eligible financial assistance applications;
  • Complete required enrolment confirmations in accordance with applicable requirements;
  • Maintain appropriate records relating to student tuition and financial assistance;

  • Protect students’ personal and financial information in accordance with applicable privacy requirements and College policy.

Important Notice

Financial assistance programs, eligibility requirements, government grants, loan limits, repayment requirements, and other funding conditions may change. Students should always consult the applicable government agency, lender, or funding organization for the most current information. Cambridge College may assist students in understanding administrative processes but cannot guarantee the approval, amount, continuation, or timing of financial assistance provided by an external organization.
